Spring Summer 2012 Color Trends

  1. Every season, new trends in fashion emerges, that can be seen in the collection showcased by designers and design houses. A unifying theme in all these fashion trends is the color palette. Whether it is clothing, accessories or makeup, colors play an important role. A few colors become the most chic and trendy for a particular season and many designers make apparels and accessories showcasing these trendy colors. You too can become a fashionista by simply using these colors in your existing wardrobe. It is not necessary that you purchase apparels in these popular colors. You can just use these colors in your makeup, shoes, bags and hair accessories.

Spring Summer Color Trends for 2012

Spring summer 2012 color trends are all about beautiful pastels and bright sorbet hues. Unlike last season which was all about military colors and neutral shades, this year we veer towards a more refreshing and fresh color palette. Here are some of the most popular color trends of spring summer 2012.

One of the hottest colors this season is coral. Coral is just right for summer and there are many fashion designers who have showcased resort wear and spring summer wear in this beautiful color. The best way to wear coral is not from head-to-toe but just by adding a dash of this color, say, in your blouse or scarf. You can pair coral with either a deep tan color or a light brown. This makes your outfit look more harmonious and polished. If you are a bit wary of wearing a coral blouse or dress, how about just applying a coral colored nail paint or lip gloss. This can instantly make you look polished and ready for summer.

A color that is making a splash this year is white. This color was seen extensively in the spring summer 2012 collection of Givenchy and Louis Vuitton. From maxi dresses to eyelet dresses, white is the shade that is the most popular this summer. To make white look spectacular invest in a white peplum dress with a metallic sheen and pair it with accessories in earthy shades. You can also wear short ruffled organza blouses in this hue or even white colored origami mini skirts.

Fashion Styles for Women Over 50

If you look at the fashion industry, whether it is with regards to clothes or hairstyles or shoes or accessories, anything and everything is aimed at pleasing younger women and to make them look attractive. So, you have seen thin models in their teens sashaying down the ramp wearing clothes that real women, especially those over a certain age, can not even imagine wearing. Where does this leave them in terms of women's clothing? What should a woman who is above the age of 50 with not that perfect a figure wear? To help such women, given below are some interesting tips on fashion styles.

Fun Fashion...
One of the foremost fashion advice for women over 50 is that they should dress up in a more fun way! Age should not be a barrier in picking up cool, chic and stylish dresses. The only thing is that women should know how to carry the dresses with confidence and grace.

The Perfect Fit...
Often times it is seen that women over a certain age start dressing up in large, over-sized clothes, all the time believing that they will hide the "flaws" in their body. Believe me! It does not work that way. For dressing up in fabulous fashion, you need to find clothes that fit your body perfectly i.e. clothes that are neither too loose, nor too tight!

Fashion Trends 2012

With the arrival of a new season, fashionistas around the world are on the lookout for the key trends for that particular season. This year major fashion designers and fashion houses like Donna Karan, Givenchy and Missoni has come up with designs and silhouettes in clothes that are very different from autumn/winter 2011. The focus this year is more on vibrant colors, unstructured silhouettes and prints. Color blocking, tribal prints, metallic skirts and peplum dresses are all in fashion this year. Unlike fall, which was dominated with tweeds and velvets and military colors like navy, beige and olive-green; this season is all about romantic and vibrant colors. Silhouettes are looser and more free-flowing with ample use of fabrics like linen, chiffon, organza, silk and Georgette. Let us take a look at some of the key fashion trends of 2012.

Upcoming Fashion Trends 2012

Tribal Prints
One of the latest spring fashion trends for 2012, is the emergence of prints. Unlike last season, where prints were soft and muted, this year the focus is on bright and bold tribal prints. Tribal prints and geometric prints in bright colors and head-to-toe patterns were seen in runways of major of fashion designers and design houses. Both Donna Karan and BCBG have great design of maxi dresses and blouses in tribal prints. If you are unsure of pulling off this trend, then wear this pattern in accessories like a handbag, scarf or belt. Animal prints are also one of the best fashion trends for spring 2012 and the best way to wear animal prints is not from head-to-toe, but to use it as accents, in trims.

Color Blocking
Color blocking is also a huge spring summer 2012 trend, and rich jewel tones like emerald, sapphire blue and eggplant are some of the best hues for color blocking. Color blocking can be seen on dresses, tunics and accessories like scarfs and stoles. Color blocking patterns in blouses and tunics should ideally be paired with neutral hues like beige and camel. The color blocking trend is very hot this season as seen in the ensembles in Victoria Beckham Spring Summer 2012, Christian Siriano 2012. To make this trend work for you, choose shades that flatters your skin tone. This trend is also great for camouflaging problem areas like flabby arms, wide hips and thunder thighs.

Fashion Advice for Women

Fashion is a lot of things, beautiful, befuddling, bizarre, and bodacious. A dress or a silhouette that can look ethereal and utterly gorgeous on the runway, can look like a disaster from outer space in real life. And if getting the look right is not task enough, you need to ensure that you get the trend right while making it work for your body type and facial structure. Fashion is no more limited to just the clothes you wear. From the bag you carry to the shoes you don, to even the watch on your wrist that serves more than just a functional purpose, fashion dictates almost everything. Getting it right can be easy as long as you stick to a few basics of the game. There are some things that you need to have in your wardrobe, which will ensure that you never go wrong. While fashion trends can be tempting to follow, more often than not they disappear within a month or two, leaving you with clothes that you will never wear again. Sticking to basics while experimenting with silhouettes, cuts, and colors, and developing your own personal sense of style is the best way to stay ahead of the demands of fashion. The best advice for women ever probably comes from Yves Saint Laurent who said, "Fashions fade, style is eternal." Take the advice from one of the biggest names in fashion and concentrate on your style. Being fashionable will fall into place.

Braided Belt

Accessories are a sure way to jazz up your outfit. Be it necklaces or earrings, they all add an appeal to your getup like nothing else can. While there are a bunch of accessories to choose from, certain accessories like belts are unisex and are popular with both, guys and girls. While there was a time when girls didn't have much to choose from, guys didn't have much more than the standard belt either. Today, however, there is so much to choose from, it's almost confusing when you're out shopping for the good looking add-ons. Girls have so much to choose from, it's possible to find something to work well with every outfit if you really want to do that. Guys too have more than they did previously. The braided leather belt is one such style. With so much improvement in both, quality as well as style, this pattern seems to have evolved too. Apart from the standard size, you will now find thick belts, skinny belts, leather belts, etc. The plaited style looks great in the skinny pattern, as does it in metallic colors. In fact, these belts are one of the more popular fashion accessories for teens as well. Since these belts are now made for everyone, let us see some of the different pieces available for men and women.

Popular Belt Patterns

The classic pattern of these belts is démodé. Yes, the conventional style hasn't really gone anywhere, but there is a lot else to choose from too. How about we see the different styles available nowadays, for guys and girls alike.

For Men
Available easily in innumerable colors and brands, this woven belt is a popular and fashionable piece to opt for. Brown is a great color when thinking of belts in general, but it isn't quite a much liked color by you, in that case you could simply pick the staple black too. A brilliant way to accessorize those classic blue jeans or even a casual pair of khakis, the braid is definitely a good look for your belt. Apart from the usual brown, variations like mahogany and tan are fine picks too. As for brands, there is more than you can think of. Don't know which ones? These are some names you could turn to... Tommy Hilfiger, Dockers, Orvis, Tommy Bahama, Torino Leather Co., Croft & Barrow, Linea Pelle. That looks like a pretty good range to pick from, right?

Making Fashion Affordable

You Don't Need Expensive Clothes to be Successful
Many fashion retailers, particularly those targeting higher income shoppers, may seem hopelessly out of range if you don't have a pile of disposable income to spend on whatever you want. Although many of us would very much like to be able to buy jeans in the $100-$200 range, this really isn't a possibility for many average people. Unfortunately, media outlets like television, fashion magazines, and advertisements encourage women and men alike to strive to afford higher-end fashion. Society teaches us that if we are worrying about the price of our fashion choices, we are not successful. You can also have a look at how is glamor affecting our daily lives.

The Perils of Spending Too Much
This message works very well as a marketing message for the more expensive fashion brands, because it creates a sense of guilt or shame in those of us who can't normally afford clothes from ritzy mall stores. So, if we choose to shop at lower end retailers instead, we are doing the right thing financially but we are encouraged by media messages to feel bad about ourselves for making this choice. In order to feel more successful and stylish, some of us end up shopping at high-end stores even though we can't necessarily afford it. This leads to financial trouble, such as credit card debt, later on. The situation can be very difficult to remedy once we have developed a habit of purchasing expensive clothes, however. Moving from too-pricey stores to lower end ones only compounds the shame that we have learned to feel.

There is No Shame in Seeking Help
How can we escape this strange situation? If you are interested in fashion and want to look your best and look current without making sacrifices that could get you into trouble later on, what are your options? Before considering the answers to these questions, it needs to be said that if you think you have a shopping problem or an addiction to expensive fashion brands, you should consider seeking help. Rather than being ashamed of your failures, find someone you can talk to about this issue and who will guide you in finding a compromise that is sustainable in your life. There is no shame in asking for a problem when you find you are embroiled in a situation that has gotten out of control.

Military Inspired Fashion Trends

There is something absolutely irresistible about a military uniform. Women see men in uniforms, and they simply cannot help going gaga over them! Army men are among some of the most honorable people in society. They command a sense of respect and admiration like none other. Military bestows responsibility, power and command. I do not know what it is about military men - their disciplined mannerism, chivalrous ways, the way they treat women, but every time I see one, ah! How I wish to be his girlfriend! I guess, however, that even if we women don't understand it, the fashion industry most undoubtedly does! Fashion was revolutionized when military inspired fashion trends first hit the markets. From caps, to headbands, goggles, shirts, jackets, cargo, trousers, boots, and even the famous dog-tag chains, military inspired fashion is evergreen - something that will never lose its charm and never die from our hearts!

Fashion Trends Inspired from Military

Military fashion trends include a collection of various garments - things that you can wear from head to toe! Here is an account of the various fashion trends that the military has set.

Be it a bucket hat (like the one shown in the picture) or a cap, or a beret - military hats are bound to give you that edge. They are a cut above the rest, and look absolutely smart, be it a man or a woman wearing it. Military inspired headgear comes in different forms and colors - from the typical military camouflage print, to the typical military green color, to brown, and sometimes even black. Berets look especially stylish in the winters, while a bucket cap looks cool and trendy in the summers. No matter what the season, you will always find a reason to wear a cap, and hence military print head-gear will never go out-of-fashion. You do not just wear a military cap, you make a statement.

Top Gun sure did popularize the aviators like no other movie ever could. But from times even before that movie, aviators have been popularized by militia. They say, only a really royal person can wear an aviator and not look stupid. Now that I know to be a fact! You need to have a broad face to carry off the typical aviator shaped sunglasses. But worry not, my friend, for different variations of the classic aviator sunglasses for those with a smaller, round face, are also available now. They bear the essence of the classic aviators, but are crafted to suit the small round face too.

How to Make an Eye Patch

An eye patch is a patch made of cloth, plastic or glass that is worn over one of the eyes. It is held in place by a string or an elastic band that goes around the head. However, wearing it in this way can get quite uncomfortable - especially for people who are prone to headaches and so it may even be pasted on using an adhesive tape. The earliest references of people wearing a patch on their eye, date back to the time of pirates. Pirates - because of their lifestyles - were quite prone to injuring their eyes. To cover up the injury and to keep it protected from further damage, they would wear a patch on their eyes. It was such a commonly observable phenomenon that the image of a pirate is now incomplete without an eye patch. I mean, can you imagine Johnny Depp minus the eye patch in Pirates of the Caribbean? I am guessing not.

These days an eye patch is worn by many people as a style statement (for example, at costume parties). Kids love to play dress-up, and if they ever plan to dress up like a pirate, they are going to want a patch! The patches that you get in the stores are all pretty much the same. But what if you could design your own custom-made patch that is unique?

Shopping List

Get hold of as many of the following things before you go on to make an eye patch. You probably wouldn't need them all, but you would definitely need some! However, make sure you check around your house to find out if you already have all or some of these requirements - chances are you will find many of them lying around your house! Once you have conducted a thorough search, go ahead and hit the mall! Buy what you need.
